Boylan Resigns From Board Of New National Maternity Hospital

The man leading the campaign against the new national maternity hospital has resigned from its board.

Dr Peter Boylan says he cannot remain where they’re so blind to the consequences of the decision to transfer sole ownership to the Sisters of Charity.

He’s also accused other members of being ‘delusional’ if they believe it’ll be the only hospital in the world owned by the Catholic church to allow abortions.

Last night the Holles Street’s board voted ‘overwhelmingly’ to continue with the deal and Dr Boylan admitted that he was a lone voice.

Clare’s Independent TD says he’s surprised by Dr Boylan’s announcement today.

Dr Michael Harty, who’s the Chairman of the Oirachtas Health Committee, has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that he doesn’t think he was left with any other option:
