The principal of a Loop Head Gaelcholáiste hopes Bank of Ireland’s decision to scrap the Irish language from its ATMs will be a “wake up call” for Gaeilgóirí.

The bank is to phase out the Irish language from its ATMs, citing a lack of demand of the reason.

However, it has been criticised by Irish advocacy groups as well as the Minister of State with responsibility for the language.

Donal Ó Lionsigh, príomhoide of Coláiste Eoghain Uí Chomhraidhe thinks the onus is on lovers of the language now.
