The alarm was raised at around 10 o’clock this morning, after the body of a man, believed to be in his early 60s, was discovered in the Ennis Road area of Kilrush.

Emergency services, including the Kilkee unit of the Irish Coast Guard, the Kilrush Fire Service, Ambulance and Gardaí were dispatched to the area, along with the Unmanned Arial System (AUS) Team from Doolin.

The scene was sealed off, pending a forensic examination and the body has since been removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
