Clare County Counci’s planned works at Blake’s Corner in Ennistymon have been given the go-ahead.

Local representatives approved the proposals without discussion at this afternoon’s monthly meeting.

This project aims to resolve long-standing traffic issues at Blake’s Corner, and will see the construction of a new Bridge over the River Inagh in Ennistymon, as well as the pedestrianisation of the existing bridge and also the demolition of three existing properties.

Some of those directly affected were in the Council’s public chambers for today’s decision which took just a few short seconds.

The plans were proposed and seconded by local Councillors Richard Nagle and Bill Slattery, and passed without any discussion.

The application for the works has been brought by the Council itself as a Part 8 planning application, meaning that the only recourse to appeal would be to seek a judicial review.
