Barnier Warns About Post-Brexit Borders

The EU’s Chief negotiator has warned that borders are part of managing the EU.

Michel Barneir’s promised to try and avoid a hard border, but it’s the clearest signal yet that a change to the border with the North will be a consequence of Brexit.

He’s been addressing a joint sitting of the Dáil and Seanad.

Meanwhile, Clare’s Independent TD has told Michel Barnier that there is an opportunity for Clare and the MidWest to benefit from Brexit.

Deputy Michael Harty has called for a focus on the opportunities that arise from Brexit, and has suggested that this include increased freight facilities in the Shannon Estuary.
