Ballyvaughan man in court over McCarthy Murder

 A Ballyvaughan father of two has appeared in court charged with murdering Deirdre McCarthy.

Ennis District Court heard that 39 year old Colm Deely of School Road in the North Clare Town replied I’m very sorry for what happened" when charged and cautioned by gardaí .

The father of two’s been remanded in custody for a week.

Dressed in a navy jumper, navy slacks and a white shirt, Colm Deely sat silently with his eyes lowered during today’s brief hearing at Ennis District Court.

Detective Garda Thomas Molloy of Ennistymon Garda Station gave evidence of charging the 39 year old at 8.14 pm last night with murdering Deirdre McCarthy on or about the 28th of March at a location unknown in County Clare.

His solicitor sought leave to apply for legal aid for the married father of two, who the court heard was attending a part time FAS course, three days a week and wasn’t a man of means.

Judge Joseph Managan then remanded him in custody to appear before Ennistymon District Court on Wednesday the 13th of April -next  which will sit in Kilrush.
