The Junior Transport Minister says she will examine the future viability and sustainability of Shannon Airport.

Minister Hildegarde Naughton’s comments came during a Dáil debate focused on the Airport, during which she also stated that she’s taking issues at the Airport seriously and stressed its importance to the region.

The Dáil heard that Shannon has sought a range of government supports to help it through the crisis, while TDs including Joe Carey and Cathal Crowe outlined how Shannon had been hit harder than Ireland’s other State airports, resulting in planned cost-cutting measures including voluntary redundancies and pay cuts for staff.
