Calls For Significant Investment In Shannon Airport

Calls have been made for significant and continued investment in Shannon Airport to drive development in the region.

Shannon recorded a strong start to 2019, following six years of growth, but after the global grounding of the Boeing Max Jet, 120,000 seats have been lost this year, at a cost of 60 million euro to the regional economy.

Mary Considine says the strong growth of Dublin presents a strong challenge for Clare’s airport, but she believes the Government’s ambition is for balanced regional development.
