Asylum Seekers In Clare Left At ‘Severe Disadvantage’ By System – Immigrant Support Centre

It’s claimed that Asylum seekers arriving in Clare in the past year were left at a ‘severe disadvantage’ because of deficiencies in the Direct Provision System.

The Department of Justice has this week confirmed that the Miltown Malbay direct provision centre is to close, with all seven residents currently staying at the accommodation due to be moved to alternative accommodation by tomorrow.

The move comes after a local group, who have supported the asylum seekers, wrote to the Department of Justice in June, calling for the centre to be closed.
