All Areas Of Clare With Rates Of COVID Less Than Half Of National Average

All five electoral areas of Clare now have rates of COVID-19 that are less than half the national average.

Both the Ennis and Shannon regions have seen slight falls in its rates in the past week.

The highest rate of COVID-19 in Clare is now in the Shannon electoral area – 22 cases there in the two weeks up to this past Monday see its prevalence of the virus per 100,000 people stand at 72.4 – though that’s well below the national average of 164, and more than half of its rate a month ago.

West Clare, having seen less than 5 new cases last week, has seen 15 in the same timeframe in the past fortnight, leaving its rate at 71.4.

18 cases in the Ennis region mean it stands at 58.2 now, though that’s a near 75 percent drop there in the past month.

A slight increase of cases in North Clare – from 6 last week to 9 now – means its disease prevalence is 54.9 per 100,000 people.

East Clare’s rate is the lowest in this county, with 8 new cases in the past 14 days seeing its rate stand at 39.8.

Less than five new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed here for the fourth day in a row last night – Clare’s overall rate of 55.5 is the fifth lowest in the country.
