Fears Lack Of Welfare Inspector Will Result In Open Season For Animal Cruelty

Clare’s County Dog Warden has expressed fear that the failure to appoint an welfare inspector for Clare could lead to high levels of animal cruelty in this county.

As it stands, the ISPCA have no dedicated inspector in Clare, and Frankie Coote’s powers, as dog warden, are limited by legislation.

He says he receives calls on a regular basis relating to cruelty towards pets, and while the GardaĆ­ do offer assistance, he has no-where to refer them to.
