Air Traffic Won’t Restore To Pre-Pandemic Level Til 2023 -Shannon Group CEO

The CEO of Shannon Group says it could be 2023 before air traffic levels at the Midwest Airport return to pre-pandemic levels.

Speaking as part of the EY and Galway Chamber Webinar Business Series, Mary Considine has called for the urgent implementation of the recommendations of the Aviation Taskforce.

Traffic at Shannon Airport fell by 97% and 95% in April and May respectively and while Ryanair flights have resumed this week and Aer Lingus are due back at the end of the summer, transatlantic flights will not resume this summer.

A green list of countries safe to travel to is due to be published by the Government next week and Mary Considine says that in order to save the season and maintain balanced regional development, air travel restrictions must be lifted.
