Aim To Stop Clare Being Drive Thru Destination As Visitor Numbers Rise

A West Clare tourism consultant insists that providing visitors with more things to do in Clare is the only way to stop this county being a “drive-thru” destination.

Figures released by the CSO show a major jump in overseas visitors to Ireland, with 575,000 arriving here last month marking an eight percent annual increase.

But there’s increasing concern that only the bigger tourist attractions are seeing the benefit and with visitors just stopping off in Clare for a photo.
