Protesting Clare Farmers Urged To Stand Down

Protesting farmers in Clare are being urged to stand down their action for the good of the sector’s future.

Whitegate Fine Gael Councillor Pat Burke, who’s a farmer himself, says the silent majority of farmers are deeply concerned about the impact the demonstrations are having.

Protestors remain at the gates of Kepak in Drumquin today, along with a number of other factories nationwide, despite pleas from the Agriculture Minister among others to stop the action.

Cllr Burke wants to see the protests halted and says the farmers can return to the pickets if they don’t achieve any further concessions around the table.
