Harty Concerned About “Rotten” Core In Beef Sector

Clare’s Independent TD insists there must be “something rotten” in the beef sector, if the farmer is the only cog in the wheel not to make a profit.

Michael Harty is reiterating his call for the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission to investigate the meat processing industry, amid concerns over price fixing or anti-competitive behaviour.

The controversy is heating up, with this week seeing a meeting of the newly established Beef Taskforce halted after farmers protested outside the Dáil.
