The Chair of the Clare IFA Livestock Committee is encouraging farmers to avail of the EU Beef Environmental Efficiency Programme for suckler herds before the deadline of May 15th.
The EU fund is worth €35 million for 2020 and targets weaning efficiency of suckler cows and calves, by measuring the live weight of the calf at weaning as a percentage of the cows live weight.
Farmers can apply online themselves or apply through their Teagasc advisor.
