Details Of Clare Farmers’ Payments Revealed

Clare farmers receive some of the lowest levels of direct supports in the country.

Figures released by Agriculture Minister Michael Creed have revealed that farmers here receive an average of just over €7,800 under pillar 1 direct payments.

On a per hectare basis, this works out at €238 euro, a figure that is higher than only six other counties.

By comparison, farmers in Carlow, who receive the highest amounts, are paid €72 more per hectare than their Clare counterparts.
