Clare IFA Chair Calls For Productive Talks Ahead Of “Most Uncertain Winter In A Lifetime”

The Clare Chair of the IFA is calling for productive talks on the beef sector deadlock ahead of what he’s labelled the most uncertain winter for farmers in a lifetime.

Meat industry officials and the major farming groups will once again meet at the talks today, in a fresh attempt to strike a deal to prevent any further protests.

Two weeks of demonstrations by farmers nationwide led to temporary layoffs at a number of meat plants, including Kepak at Drumquin, near Ennis, before the action was suspended to allow for talks to take place.
