10-Year Low In Beef Prices Sees Clare Farmers Struggling

It’s claimed Clare farmers are facing a major struggle, as beef prices hit a 10-year low, amid a tightening of EU restrictions.

Factories are currently quoting €3.40 per kilo for heifers that meet the required EU standards, which is 50c back on the price just two months ago.

This falls even further for cattle breaching weight restrictions with some farmers receiving as little as €2.80/kg for their stock.
