The median price fetched for an acre of agricultural land in the MidWest is 6,241 euro.

That same figure was just under 7,000 euro two years ago, and is lower than all other regions, except for the worst.

And while the prices are low, so too is supply in what appears to be a depressed market.

The amount of land sold in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary last year was less than half of the figure for three years ago, while the number of transactions has also fallen.

In 2014, there were 311 separate sales but last year, this figure stood at 140.

The figures roughly mirror the national trend, with most areas experiencing a decrease in land transactions, volumes and values last year.
