7 in 10 people are backing Michael D Higgins for re-election as President, according to a new opinion poll.
The Paddy Power/ Red C survey of a thousand people was conducted between October 3rd and 10th.
President Higgins is leading on 70 per cent, followed by Sean Gallagher on 14 per cent.
Next is Joan Freeman is 6 per cent, and today she has hit out at President Higgins and Sean Gallagher for not taking part in debates.
The pair have missed one debate already, and are due to be absent in another TV debate on Monday night.
Speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, Senator Freeman challenged them to go head-to-head with the other runners.
