69 On Tolleys At Region’s Main Hospital

Nurses say there’s been a spike in the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital once again today.

Figures from the INMO show 69 patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning.

49 of those were on trolleys in the Emergency Department, while a further 20 are being accomodated in overflow areas of wards.

The overall figure is more than two dozen more than the next busiest facility and comes on a day when 492 patients were waiting to be admitted at hospitals across the country.
