5th night of Belfast violence

Police in the North say a number of cars were hijacked and petrol bombs were thrown at officers on a fifth night of violence.

The disturbances began on the Lower Newtonards Road in Belfast at about 11 o’clock last night – but the PSNI says none of its members were injured.

A total of 71 police officers have been injured since the unrest began over the decision to ban an Orange march in the Ardoyne on the 12th of July.
