Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital remains the highest in the country today.

The latest figures from the INMO show 55 people were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 31 of those in the Emergency Department.

It’s two higher than the next busiest facility and comes on a day when 528 patients were waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
