240 Homeowners In Clare Told To Pay Over €2 Million Or Face Eviction

240 homeowners and investors in a Shannon housing estate have been told to pay over two million euro for fire safety and other defects, or face eviction.

Its understood the defects were discovered in the Bru na Sionna Estate by engineers retained when the developer went into receivership.

The Irish Examiner reports that the fire officer for Clare County Council got involved in November last and has set out a schedule of work to be started in March.

The Estate was built between 2005 and 2007 by a building company which went into receivership in 2010.

The homeowners have been told they need to provide an initial payment of 7,000 euro each by this week.
