200 Have Been Declined Access From GLAS Schemes

200 Clare farmers have been declined entry into GLAS schemes over recent years.

Figures released to the Dáil show that 163 farmers here were declined for the Glas2 scheme, on top of 34 more who were declined funding from Glas1.

The remainder were not granted access to Glas3.

GLAS, or the Green Low-Carbon Agri-Environment Scheme, was first opened in 2015, is co-funded by the EU, and aims to focus on the rural environment.

Only a handful of counties saw more farmers rejected from the scheme than Clare.
