18 Clare Homes Purchased Under Help To Buy Scheme

18 Clare homes have been purchased using the government’s new Help to Buy Scheme.

The scheme aimed to help first-time buyers by offering them a tax rebate when of up to 20,000 euro.

The scheme has been in place since the beginning of the year, and the 18 Clare claims pales when compared with the 32 in Louth, 22 in Laois and 105 in Wicklow.

The scheme was introduced by Housing Minister Simon Coveney, but his Fine Gael leadership opponent Leo Varadkar has indicated that it could be scrapped if it is shown that it is contributing to rising house prices.
