Boy, 15, Hospitalised After Ennis Petrol Station Assault

A teenager has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after an assault at an Ennis petrol station.

A mother and her 15-year-old son had pulled intot the garage on the Kilrush Road at around 5pm and the mother was filling the car with petrol when another vehicle pulled in.

Two men, possibly wearing balaclavas, got out of the second car and attacked the mother’s car – injuring the teen in the process.

Gardai arrived on the scene quickly and the two men in the second vehicle made off.

The teenager was removed from the scene and taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment though his injuries are not thought to be serious.

No arrests have been made so far and Gardaí say they are following a definite line of inquiry.

CCTV footage is being examined and it appears that the perpetrators may have been wearing balaclavas.
