Monika Matracka admits stabbing Michal Rejmer but claims she was acting in self defence after he came into her bedroom armed with a knife and demanding money.
Her trial heard their long term relationship had come to an end sometime before the end of 2015, but they were still living together.
Michal was working at McDonalds in Castletroy and was reported missing on January 6th 2016 when he didn’t show up for work for a few days.
Monika initially told Gardaí she hadn’t seen him in a week but later admitted killing him after his body was found.
She said his body lay in their kitchen for a few days before she rolled him out to their back garden where he was found by his friend covered in plastic and wrapped in a blood-stained duvet.
The jury begun its deliberations yesterday and returned this morning to ask for the evidence of the State Pathologist to be read out again.
Earlier in the trial, Dr. Marie Cassidy said Mr. Rejmer died from blood loss caused by deep stab wounds to his arms.
