More than half of people in the Midwest region, which for the purposes of homelessness figures includes Clare and Limerick, are aged between 25 and 44.

There are 29 families in the region in total seeking a home – 21 of these are single parent entities.

Clare County Council’s monthly management report suggests around half of those seeking a home are staying in emergency accommodation in Ennis, though 13 people presented to the local authority in January under the Homeless Action Team’s Winter Initiative.

Just seven counties – the major cities of Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick, as well as Kerry, Meath and Kildare, now have more homeless people in Ireland than Clare.
