Michael Leahy

    In the build-up to election 2020, Clare FM is meeting each of the candidates and allowing them a chance to outline to you, the voter, what they will do if elected on February 8th.

    Corofin man Michael Leahy is running as the only Irish Freedom Party candidate in the county.

    My vision for Clare:

    A fair and equitable spread of development, Regeneration of our towns and villages, ensuring that local communities are supported and that people can gain and access employment in their local area.

    My priorities if elected:

    Taking the regulatory burden off small businesses, ensuring a slimmed down and more efficient state sector, Protection of freedom of speech, ensuring that legislation meets the needs of the public.

    My experience:

    Architect in private practice in Ennis since 1986. I have wide experience of providing employment and understand the problems of finance, regulation and employment law faced by small business. Wide experience of project managing a significant building projects.

    Former president Ennis Chamber of Commerce with understanding of the business climate and business needs. Extensively involved in community projects such as Ennis arts Festival, charitable organisations and cultural organisations.

    Have served the highest level of the public sector having been a board member of an Bord Pleanala for five years, so I know how the public sector works and have a detailed knowledge of planning, development and environmental systems.
