“No Major Issues” At Miltown Malbay Asylum Centre – Flanagan

The Justice Minister says there are “no major issues” at an accommodation centre for asylum seekers in Miltown Malbay.

An unannounced inspection has taken place at the Central Hostel, in the wake of a letter from a local community groups – who alleged – that there were a host of problems there, and called for the Centre to close.

The Irish Examiner reports – that a senior official from the Department of Justice conducted a surprise inspection there last week, following a video call with residents on the previous day, and concluded – that there were no health and safety violations.

The paper reports that – there are currently 19 asylum seekers staying at the facility.
