East Clare Resident Claims Voice Has Been Silenced On Wind Farm Concern After Postal Issue

An East Clare resident claims her voice has been silenced, after her letter of objection to a planned wind farm near her home was rejected due to a delay in the postal system.

An Bord Pleanala is currently assessing plans for 19 wind turbines to be constructed as part of Carrownagown Wind Farm on Slieve Bearnagh in East Clare.

Nicola Henley, who lives around 5km away, sent a submission to the planning authority on February 1st via express overnight delivery to ensure it met the deadline, but it wasn’t delivered for over three weeks.

An Post has since claimed responsibility and apologised for the inconvenience, but the planning authority still says it’s unable to accept the submission, something Nicola believes is unfair.
