Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious road crash on the Ennis-Ennistymon Road, which has left a young girl in a critical condition.

A former Clare club hurling coach has been jailed for four and a half years for the abuse of a young boy. 74 year old James ‘Tony’ Maher, a founding member of the Banner GAA club in Ennis, was convicted by a Central Criminal Court jury in January of one count of sexual assault and one count of rape of the boy on dates between 1999 and 2002.
