Skycourt Management Says Heavy Investment In Acquiring New Tenants

Management at the Skycourt Shopping Centre says it’s investing heavily in acquiring new tenants for the centre.

It comes as a “day of action” has been called against Shannon town’s shopping centre by local Sinn Féin Councillor Mike McKee, who says he’s furious over a decision to close it’s food court in the coming weeks.

In a statement to Clare FM, Skycourt Management has announced that food retailer Iceland will open it’s doors in the centre in December, with the creation of 25 jobs, following a 1 million euro investment.

While it says “further exciting plans for the centre include the redevelopment and conversion of the foodcourt into a more community focused use” which it says “will add a totally new dimension to the centre”.

But Councillor McKee has hit out over the decision to remove the current businesses from the shopping centre’s food court, saying it’s damaging for the town:

Skycourt Shopping Centre is currently investing heavily in acquiring new tenants for the centre. At this time we are delighted to announce, food retailer, Iceland Foods Ireland will open an 8,700 sq. store on the ground floor shopping mall, adjacent to Dealz. The store is scheduled to open in December 2017. With an investment of €1M by Iceland and the creation of 25 jobs, it shows a vote of confidence in Skycourt Shopping Centre.

Further exciting plans for the centre include the redevelopment and conversion of the foodcourt into a more community focused use which will add a totally new dimension to the centre. We have very exciting redevelopment plans for this space and we are confident that our customers will be pleased.
