Rural ‘Uber’ System To Be Examined For Rural Clare

A study is to be carried out to examine the possibility of setting up an Uber-style system to transport people around rural Clare.

It was touted as a possibility in the ten-year Strategy for the Development of Rural Clare in September last.

It’s now been confirmed that Enterprise Ireland provide €25,000 towards a feasibility study into the possibility of implementing the plan.

If successful, a prototype is expected to be developed by the end of the summer – but Jim Connolly of Rural Resettlement Ireland fears the move comes too late for rural pubs who could have benefited from this service.
