Miltown have sealed their place in the Clare Senior Football Championship Quarter Finals after a high scoring victory over O’Currys.

County star Eoin Cleary opened the scoring for the 2015 champions, but a goal from O’Curry’s from a long range free by Eoin Troy sent them two clear.

The Miltown response was swift and they hit 1-7 unanswered, with Eoin Cleary getting 0-3 and David Cleary landing 0-2.

Seanie Malone hit the back of the net from a penalty while Kieran Malone also got on the scoresheet.

O’Curry’s stopped the rot with a point but four in a row from Conor Cleary Joe Curtin and two for Eoin Cleary left Miltown 1-11 to 1-1 ahead.

Futher points before the break came from Eoin and David Cleary before Brian Curtin, David Cleary and Seanie Malone shook the net to leave them 4-13 to 1-1 clear at half time.

O’Currys pounced for a second goal soon after the restart, with Eoin Cleary responding with his 7th point of the afternoon.

The men from the peninsula then hit a third goal of the game to leave it 4-14 to 3-1 after 40 minutes of play.

Eoin Troy scored his second goal of the game for O’Currys with ten minutes to play, but Joe Curtin and Micheal Malone found the net to leave Miltown 6-17 to 4-4 ahead.

O’Currys hit yet another goal late on, but it finished on a full time score of Miltown 6-17 O’Currys 5-4.

Clondegad have edged past Lissycasey after another extra time battle to seal a spot in the last eight of the Clare SFC.

It was a tight opening 10 minutes with the sides level at 0-1 a piece after Niall Kelly and Podge McMahon swapped frees.

Kelly hit two more frees unanswered before a long range effort from Eoghan Donnellan and another McMahon free tied the sides up at 0-3 each.

Conor Talty edged Lissycasey in front once more in first half injury time with a point from a “45, and another Kelly free meant they went in at the break 0-5 to 0-3 ahead.

Clondegad hit the next two scores to tie the teams up once more at 0-5 each after the restart, before Conor Finucane struck for a goal to send Lissycasey back into the lead.

Tony Kelly responded with a point to cut the gap to two, and another from Gary Brennan saw the minimum between the sides with less than 10 minutes to play.

Another free from Gary Brennan saw the neighbours level again at 1-5 to 0-8, and they headed for extra time once more.

Clondegad hit the first two scores of the extra time through Francie Neylon and Podge McMahon to put daylight between the sides, before Enda responded with a free to cut that gap to the minimum.

The big score of the tie came late in the second period of extra time as Podge McMahon rattled the back of Joe Hayes’ net to leave Clondegad 1-10 to 1-6 ahead with time almost up.

Lissycasey cut the gap to three but couldn’t get any closer as Clondegad won out by 1-10 to 1-7.

They now go through to the quarter finals while Lissycasey meet Ennistymon in Round Three.

Doonbeg are also safely through to the quarter finals after a battling 2-10 to 2-4 victory over St Josephs Doora Barefield.

It was the men from the Parish who led at the break by 1-2 to 0-4 having made a strong start to the game.

David O’Brien got the opening two scores of the game and they led 0-2 to 0-0 after 15 minutes.

Darragh Corry then buried a goal for St Josephs minutes later to send them into a clear advantage.

The Magpies then sparked into life, and four points in a row from David Tubridy saw them go in at half time just a point behind.

St Josephs were first off the mark to stretch that lead again after the restart, but Shane Ryan’s goal midway through the half saw the sides level at 1-4 a piece.

They added a point to that to go into the lead for the first time in the game, before Paudie Nugent pounced for 1-1 to leave Doonbeg 2-6 to 1-4 in front entering the closing stages.

Peter Collins ensured the Parish stayed in touch as he found the net with 5 minutes to play and left just two between them, before four in a row from Brian Dillon, David Tubridy Eoghan Tubridy and Paul Dillon gave the Magpies a six point win.

Eire Óg are through to the last eight of the Clare SFC after beating Corofin for a second time this year.

The sides were level at 0-1 each after the opening 10 minutes, but Eire Óg went 0-4 to 0-2 clear on the 20th minute mark.

The Townies took complete control from here, and a goal from Ciaran Russell saw them head for the dressing rooms with a 1-6 to 0-3 lead

Corofin struck for a goal through Damien Ryan in the 40th minute and they trailed by 1-7 to 1-4.

Eire Óg didn’t panic though and hit two more unanswered points to take a 1-9 to 1-4 win and with it a place in the quarter finals of this years championship.

Wolfe Tones and Kilkee will meet in the 2017 Clare Senior Football Relegation Playoff.

The Seasiders moved one step closer to the drop after losing out to Kilfenora by 4-6 to 1-4.

The Shannon side are also in danger of losing their senior status after a 3-7 to 1-5 defeat against St Breckan’s.

The line up for the Clare Intermediate Football Semi Finals has been completed.

Kilmihil topped Group One and will now face Coolmeen in the last four.

The other semi final tie sees Group Two winners Kilrush taking on Kildysart
