Positive Day For Clare Sides In National And Provincial Cup Action

There was a clean sweep for the Clare teams in national and provincial cup action today.

In the FAI Junior Cup, Shannon Town edged a dramatic battle with Oliver Bond, winning 4-3 thanks to an injury time winner.

Goals from Gary O’Connell and Darren Griffin put Town 2-0 up before the Dublin men struck one of their own.

Colin Scanlan restored Shannons two goal lead but a brace from the away side saw the game level at 3-3 as the 90th minute loomed.

The winner came in the 93rd minute as Darren Cove struck to send his side into the last 16 and set up a home tie with Evergreen FC.

In the Munster Junior Cup, Newmarket Celtic were comfortable 3-0 winners at home to Cappamore with goals from Colin Smyth, Eoin Hayes and Alan Brigdale seeing them into the 5th round.

Sporting Ennistymon are also into the 5th round after coming from 1-0 down to beat Cork side Rockmount 2-1 thanks to second half goals from Jamesy McConigley and Ciaran Monaghan.
