People On Illness Benefit ‘Left In Limbo’ Over Payment

Concern is being expressed in Clare that people who are off work and in need of illness benefit are being left in limbo without any money to get by.

It comes as a row has erupted between GPs and the Department of Social Protection over new forms, with GPs criticising the significant workload it’s putting on them.

In 2016 alone, the CSO recorded that 1,093 people claimed some form of illness benefit in this county.
