Selector David O’Brien has pointed to their work rate after Clare fell to their first defeat in Division Two of the National Football League in Salthill.
The Tribesmen were five points ahead after only five minutes and the Banner had to wait till the 11th minute to register a score through the boot of Jamie Malone.
The game, played the trying conditions, ended 3-13 to 1-11 with Keelan Sexton grabbing Clare’s only goal.
