The organisers of Willie Clancy Week say no decision has yet been made on whether or not the traditional summer school will go ahead.

The Government yesterday announced a ban on events of over 5,000 people until August 31st, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which has resulted in the cancellation of big gigs and festivals across the country this summer.

Thousands ordinarily descend on Miltown Malbay for the traditional music event in July, but that is now in question for 2020.

Organisers say they’re continuing to monitor the public health emergency, and if the situation remains critical, it won’t go ahead.

Administrator Harry Hughes has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that health and safety remains the top priority.
