Clare joint hurling manager Donal Moloney has labelled the GAA’s decision to end drawn knockout games with a free taking shootout from the 65 yard line as ridiculous and disgraceful.

The Banner lost out to Limerick in the National League’s first ever shootout after two periods of extra time couldn’t separate them in their quarter final tie.

The shootout itself went to sudden death with Niall Deasy’s miss followed by a Limerick winner to book a semi final spot.

Moloney says he hopes the GAA reconsider the rule as it’s not a fair way to decide a contest.
