Minister Says Full Restoration Of Rescue Services At Kilkee Won’t Be Rushed

The Transport Minister says the process of restoring full rescue services at Kilkee won’t be rushed.

The unit has been restricted to shoreline searches and inshore boat searches since the tragic death of Caitríona Lucas in Kilkee in September 2016, and a training and recertification process for crews is ongoing.

Clare’s Independent TD, Michael Harty has raised concerns in the Dáil over the reduced service, saying it deters fishermen and tourists from entering the water.
