Local Authority Building Plan Needed To Tackle Shortage Of Lone Parent Accomodation

It’s claimed a local authority building plan is needed to deal with the backlog of people seeking accommodation in this county.

Sixmilebridge Councillor PJ Ryan has called on the council to consider building homes for single people and lone parents, in light of a shortage of such properties throughout the county.

Clare County Council has acknowledged the need and is seeking properties for acquisition, while it’s also seeking to address the matter through the current Capital Build Programme, which includes 2-bed unit designs in all approved schemes.

But it will take some time for further units to come on stream and Independent Councillor Ryan says it’s time progress was made on the matter.
