The Galway side struck back for a try of their own before Tony Butler got the first of his brace and when Coughlan converted they lead by 15-5.

Aided by the breeze, Ballinasloe hit back with two tries in quick succession to regain the lead and went to the dressing rooms 17-15 in front at the break.

Coughlan landed a penalty after the restart to send Ennis back in front, before Butler crossed once more with Coughlan’s conversion seeing them lead 25-17 in the final quarter of the game.

Back came their opponents with another converted try and penalty to lead by two inside the final five minutes.

The Clare men were patient and worked through the phases to engineer the chance for Barry to touch down in the corner and send them through to the decider.

The win comes less than 7 days after they won the Pan Munster title in Thomond Park with victory over Skibereen.
