IFA Calls For Dedicated Rural Crime Taskforce To Be Set Up

Clare farmers are said to be terrified of the threat of violent crime on their land.

It comes as the Irish Farmers Association calls for the establishment of a dedicated Rural Crime Taskforce, following an increase in the number of thefts from farms.

Speaking before the Joint Oireachtas Justice Committee, the farmers group said there needs to be more patrols by Gardaí in rural areas and the crime reporting system needs to be streamlined.
