HSE Gives Assurances Over ShannonDoc

The HSE says it is confident that dramatic changes to the ShannonDoc service can be avoided this year.

It follows a reduction in GP out-of hours services in Kilrush, Ennistymon and Killaloe last year, which the co-operative blamed on a reduction in doctor numbers.

This is despite claims by the HSE that the number of GPs in the county has dropped by only two over six years.

In a briefing on the 2017 Operational Plan for the Mid-West, Chief Officer of HSE Mid West Community Healthcare, Bernard Gloster says every effort will be made to prevent any further changes to Shannondoc:
