Health Minister Claims HSE Needs To Be Scrapped

The Health Minister claims the HSE needs to be scrapped and replaced with a slimmed down body.

Simon Harris has outlined an 8 point plan to an Oireachtas Committee today.

It largely involves giving more power around day to day services to Hospital Groups and Community Health Organisations.

But Minister Harris says there’s still a need for a central agency.

But the Clare Chairman of the HSE’s regional Health Forum West has cast doubt over the plans.

Councillor Tom McNamara has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that he fears it may result in the same system but by a different name.
