Garda Investigation Into Clare Road Crash Which Claimed Life of Woman

A Garda investigation is underway, following a road crash which claimed the life of a woman crossing the main Ennis to Kilrush Road.

The woman, who’s believed to be a 41-year-old mother of two, was crossing the road at Darragh, when she was hit by the car.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 7 o’clock, after a woman, who was crossing the N68 at Darragh, was hit by a car.

She was treated at the scene before being transferred by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment, but she died from her injuries was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a man in his 40’s, was unharmed.

A 1500 metre stretch of the N68 has been closed, with traffic diverted away from the area.

Garda forensic collision investigators will begin examining the crash site this morning.

Gardaí in Ennis are investigating the collision and have appealed for witnesses to contact them on 065 68 48 100, if they passed the location around the time of the incident, and saw anything that might assist them with their investigation.
