Clare Gardaí have seized €160,000 euro worth of drugs and a firearm as part of an operation targeting the sale of illegal drugs in the county.
A major search has taken place in the Kilmurray area, while a man has been arrested after a follow-up search in Ennis.
As part of an ongoing operation, Gardaí yesterday searched a house and lands in Kilmurray, near Sixmilebridge.
There, they uncovered 1.5kg of cocaine with a street value of €105,000, as well as 1kg of cannabis herb valued at €20,000, along with a sub-machine gun and ammunition.
As part of the same operation, a car was stopped and searched at the Tulla Road in Ennis, and here a further 0.5kg of cocaine was found – this is estimated to be worth €35,000.
A man in his 20s was arrested and taken to Ennis Garda Station, but later released and a file is to be prepared for the DPP.
The operation is ongoing, and further searches are being carried out today.
